This cemetery was established in early 1930 in Carbon County, Utah as a low cost burial ground for those who had immigrated from foreign countries and had worked in the coal mines and had died as a result of a mining accident or disease and could not afford to be shipped overseas to be buried with their families. Not everyone buried in the cemetery has a stone, a few have iron crosses and some only a red stake which marks their graves with no documentation. Additional information (dates and places) have been added to the dates of the gravestones from death certificates, census records or obituaries or marriage records. This was done to provide researchers a rich source of information for their ancestors. Sources of information are listed by code number in the record and an explanation of those codes is listed at the bottom of this record. Additionally abbreviations used are listed at the bottom as well. Death Certificate information is considered to be the most accurate of all records, so dates from those records took precedence over the gravestone records when there was a conflict.
